Future Fund Closes Another Deal!
Another innovative aspect of The Fork is its partnerships. Working with Future Fund, the visionary land trust founded by Dr. Steve Henry, and ably led by Dr. Henry and Jeff Frank, Executive Director, 21st Century Parks has preserved thousands of acres of land along Floyds Fork. The most recent acquisition is 15 acres of land along Echo Trail north of South English Station Road. The most dramatic success of the partnership is the "southern park," an over 1100 acre collection of contiguous parcels that will be the largest public park in Louisville other than The Jefferson Memorial Forest. With lands assembled by 21st Century Parks and Future Fund, this park will preserve bottomland forest, the scenic watershed of Turkey Run, and upland meadows that will be home to an unparalleled trail system nestled in diverse wildlife habitat.
