Capital Campaign Kicks Off at the Louisville Home of Campaign Co-Chair Sandra Frazier

The newest phase of the 21st Century Floyd's Fork parklands project is a $25 million capital campaign, being directed by a prestigious group of Louisville leaders. Co-Chairs David Jones, Jim Bloem, Chuck Denny, Phil McHugh, Joe Pusateri and Sandra Frazier, as well as CEO Dan Jones, kicked off the quiet phase of the campaign January 14, which is raising funds for additional land acquisition and project planning and design.

The kickoff, hosted by Sandra Frazier in her Louisville Highlands home, was a fitting backdrop for the mission of The Fork project. Only a few blocks from Frederick Law Olmsted's Cherokee Park, it was an inspirational reminder of Olmsted's vision and mission to build beautiful parks in areas not yet fully developed. Saving green space soon to be more densely populated, and providing much-needed areas for recreation, contemplation, and preservation of land and wildlife, Cherokee Park and the surrounding Highlands community showcase the best of what these ideas can do. Few think of the Highlands without immediately thinking of Cherokee Park, as it defines the entire neighborhood.

Inspired by how well this worked more than 100 years ago, and energized by the idea of applying this same vision to The Fork area, the approximately 60 people who attended the event, including the forty members of the campaign's Steering Committee, have already begun working in earnest to see this dream realized for a new generation of Louisville families.
